To familiarise students with contemporary theories and practices in urban design.
Students will develop knowledge in the relationship between design, culture and the urban environment through
the study of Australian and overseas case studies, design guidelines and legislation. Students will develop skills
to critically recognise and provide design responses to issues related to urban development including city form
and image, legibility and amenity, open space and movement systems, heritage and streetscape conservation,
design processes and implementation.
