Course aim

To familiarise students with the global issues of conservation in the built environment.

Course content

Students will develop knowledge of the environmental, political, social, legal and economic issues related to
historic buildings and places, and the processes and technologies involved in the assessment of their cultural
significance, documentation, conservation and management. Students will develop critical analysis and
evaluation skills to determine the significance of specific sites and apply appropriate strategies for their interpretation, conservation and adaptive re-use.
