To enable students to expand upon their professional knowledge and skills to work competently in Secondary School Design and Technology workshop settings.
Students will further develop their design and technology knowledge and skills in WHS, Yr 7 – 10 Design and Technology projects, workshop procedures and making procedures. Students will develop an item of jewellery, understand the SOPs for safe use of workshop facilities to construct a dress ring and a cast pendant using metal forming techniques, micro welding and metal casting, designing and constructing an ‘Item of Balance’ using metal shaping techniques (interpreting, designing and realisation activity), ‘Building on the Foundations’. Students will also undertake an interpretive activity involving designing and constructing a multiple part artefact using natural and recycled and manufactured timber products (or suitable combinations of polymers, timber, trans-materials or metals).
