To advance students’ knowledge of contemporary understandings and approaches in communication, ethical theory, critical thinking, reflection and ethical reasoning skills, in order to demonstrate the skills required for moral agency with clients, their family and carers as well as colleagues in a variety of health care settings.
Critical thinking and reasoning, ethical theory, ethical reasoning as an individual and social process, reflective skills, moral agency, communication theory, dealing with difference, power and rank, anger and conflict management, collaborative decision making, understanding and working with emotions.
