Course aim

Students will develop competencies in designing research that incorporates appropriate conceptual, methodological and ethical requirements to inform nursing, midwifery and health care practice, knowledge and research.

Course content

Nature of knowledge; advancing nursing, midwifery and health care through research; major issues and debates in contemporary nursing; midwifery and health care research; research paradigms, theories and frameworks; the research process; developing research questions; different research designs and methods; searching databases; critical appraisal of literature; literature reviews; research ethics; research proposals.
