The Health & Well-being Industry Practicum assists students in developing practical skills in the arena of non-clinical health workforce roles. This requires the linking of concepts covered in their program to activities including health promotion, population health, project planning and implementing, research support and health administration. Students will engage in non-clinical health roles within the health system or other systems which seek to promote or support health.
This course requires students to be involved in a high level field placement project carried out within a non-clinical industry setting under academic and industry supervision. Student and supervisor evaluations, including personal critical reflection for the student, are a critical component of the course. The comprehensive report and presentation produced is expected to show evidence of service learning and experiential learning principles, of which critical reflection is central.
