Course aim

To extend students' knowledge of health psychology principles and procedures by familiarising students with the application of this knowledge to the practice of clinical psychology in health contexts.

Course content

Students will develop knowledge of the psychological interventions of major health problems. Students will develop theoretical approaches to understanding and changing health behaviour; decision making in relation to health issues; assessment and clinical intervention methods; application of psychological knowledge to specific health problems; health promotion; assessment and program design; behavioural modification; and pharmacological interventions for psychological problems.
