To equip students with the skills and knowledge to apply research and evaluation principles into dietetic practice and research. This knowledge will contribute to students’ understanding of the approaches and methods used in dietetic and nutrition research and further develop their skills in critically appraising the scientific literature.
This course will cover the development of research proposals, the principles of research design and research methods with a focus on those used in nutrition and dietetics. Application of research as part of dietetic practice, applying for grants/ funding and ethics proposals. Basic statistical methods will be covered. How to perform a systematic critical appraisal of the research literature and the writing of literature reviews.
