This course aims to introduce students to current topical issues within nutrition and dietetics and develop skills in the evaluation of the literature in relation to these issues.
During this course students will explore in depth selected current nutrition and dietetic topics. The course will draw on nutrition knowledge being learnt concurrently in HLTH 5170 Nutrition and Food Science.
The concepts of critical appraisal and evidenced based practice are critical skills for practising dietitians and will be integrated into the courses for this program through the investigation of current issues and topics in nutrition and dietetic. Students will learn about and develop skills in applying critical appraisal methods and begin to develop an understanding of the principles of evidence based practice. Students will work in small groups on specific topics during the course and prepare and present their work to their peers.
