Course aim

The aim of this course is to enable the student to acquire the knowledge and develop the skill required to perform practical procedures in breast ultrasound.

Course content

Breast embryology, anatomy, physiology, pathology and sonographic appearances; male breast; role of breast ultrasound in diagnosis; imaging of breast prostheses; interventional techniques; artefacts; image optimisation; breast and axillary scanning techniques, including appropriate measurements; communication skills – moral and ethical considerations; mammographic/ultrasound image correlation, basic MRI techniques and image appreciation.
