Course aim

To build a set of evidence-based strategies to assist with personal development and to assist students with developing a professional identity as a worker in a counselling or psychology related field.

Course content

In this course students will use psychological theories and concepts (e.g. stress, self and time management, academic competencies, communication and positive psychology) to build a set of strategies to assist with personal and professional development. Students will explain how these strategies apply to their personal and professional lives by completing a reflective journal. Communication, team work and leadership skills will be developed in the design and presentation of a group presentation. Students will complete a career portfolio where they will demonstrate how they can utilise strengths and opportunities to overcome developmental needs and threats to achieve their career goals.
