Community Nutrition Promotion

Course aim

To develop understanding and application of the principles and practicalities of program planning and delivery to successfully guide community nutrition activities which meet the capabilities required for a nutritionist.

Course content

Public health nutrition framework – local, national and international perspective. Public health nutrition priorities with a focus on Aboriginal and disadvantaged populations. Current national, international community nutrition programs, with a focus on Aboriginal  and disadvantaged populations. Principles and practicalities of community nutrition program planning, delivery and evaluation (including needs assessment, setting aims and objectives, implementation theory and models, program evaluation). Application of theory to the critique and development of community nutrition programs. Application of food and nutrition knowledge to planning community nutrition activities.  Emerging issues in community nutrition.
