Course aim

This program has two key aims. Firstly to develop the student's understanding of research methods, critical thinking, ethics and data analysis, particularly as these methods apply in an innovation context. And secondly to provide students with an initial practice-based learning experience in order to build basic innovation and enterprise skills in an industry environment.

Course content

The course gives students practical experience in innovation. This includes; an introduction to the innovation process, market research, communication skills, industry analysis, learning to work in teams, writing business proposals, self-reflection and presenting a pitch to a panel of experts. Working with industry mentors from various organisations, students will learn critical skills in preparing them for fast paced industry environments.

The course also provides an understanding of the research process as it applies to innovation. This includes information systems and knowledge management, business analytics, research design and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
