Course aim

To achieve the competencies required in order to be recommended for the Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) flight test. Completing the CASA RPL flight test is optional for students. No syllabus hours are allocated for this and payment for the flight test is the responsibility of the student.

Course content

Low speed aircraft handling; cross wind operations; advanced stalling; instrument flying; forced landing without power; maximum performance operations; navigation.

Students must hold a minimum of a Class II Medical with at least 6 months validity. Students must remain compliant with the Aviation Academy's Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP). Students must have a current ASIC to enrol.

INTERNAL, MAWSON LAKES
Practical (Students are assigned an instructor for the duration of the course who will work with each student individually to plan and book flight lessons.) 9 weeks x 2-3 flights per week
Tutorial (Each new topic is preceded with by a mass briefing delivered to all course participants.) 9 weeks x 1-2 hour prior to each topic
Directed Study (Pre-flight planning. Students will be required to commence planning prior to their scheduled practical.) 9 weeks x 2 hours per lesson
