Course aim

To develop informed and critical understandings of leadership theory and practice related to fostering learner-centred curriculum environments.

Course content

Students will examine contemporary research and develop understandings of key elements of empowering pedagogy in order to create professional environments that incorporate:

  • Contextualized funds of knowledge with and through the local community
  • Improving local community circumstances through inquiry-based learning
  • Clearly articulated learning intentions with negotiated curriculum as embedded practice
  • Engaging learners with dialogic learning practice
  • Engaging learners in critical conversations about their learning.
