Course aim

To evaluate language, language evolution and language development from a neurobiological perspective, and provide an advanced understanding of how the neurobiological underpinnings of language shape human communication.

Course content

Specialised research methods to investigate the cognitive neuroscience and neurobiology of language; evolutionary origins of language in its various modalities (speech, sign language, reading and writing); development and lifespan changes of language in the brain; the challenge of language diversity for models of language in the brain.
