To develop the student's facility in the technical and stylistic aspects of improvisation.
Extensions of basic jazz improvisation techniques are studied in order to develop the student's facility in the technical and stylistic aspects of improvisation. The altered scale will be introduced and chord/scale relationships and their application to improvisation will be discussed. Ensemble repertoire will be used to provide a basis for improvisation.
