Course aim

The course will develop students’ digital literacy through a focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for screen and web. This course is suitable for students who already have good working knowledge of computers.

Course content

Students will gain insight into contemporary visual communication through analysing and critiquing new media texts, such as film, advertising, web content and games. Students will then design, develop and produce a new media project. Through this course students will extend their ICT and digital literacy skills for application in undergraduate degrees such as art, design, media, information technology, and marketing.

Prerequisite(s)

Proficient computer skills (proficiency in email, Word and web). To study effectively in this course you will require: 1. Strong internet connection, 2. Webcam, 3. Microphone, 4. Headset with microphone, 5. Speakers. If you are unsure if you have the necessary requirements please undertake a Computer system test using the link provided in the Course Outline. If you intend to study externally and do not have access to this technology, then you are advised to take the course internally. If this is not possible due to distance or other documented reasons, please contact the course coordinator in week one for guidance.
