Course aim

To enable students to gain the skills required by engineering professionals to negotiate, plan, undertake and communicate the results of an engineering project whilst working in an industry placement.

Course content

There will be no formal syllabus as the students will work with their academic and industry supervisor. The project topic will be based on the needs of industry. The project must be undertaken individually and cover project formulation to completion.

The course entails placement of the student within an industry or research internship for a period of 12-15 weeks full-time equivalence. This placement may be full-time, part-time, or some combination thereof.

Students will need to have completed 99 units of their engineering degree and achieved a GPA of 5.5 to be able to undertake this industry placement course.
