Interior Architecture Research Studies

Course aim

To develop students' research skills and knowledge into expanded spatial practices, including materiality and its relationship to human experience and memory, and to encourage research skills into social, ethical and political issues in the context of interior design.

Course content

Students will develop knowledge through research, critique and analysis of the interiority of buildings; the body and reciprocal interactions; environmental issues and spatial practices, colour texture theory; domesticity; media representations. Students will research the themes of gender; social and material culture: the interpretation and effect of these influences and their integration into interior design. Students will expand their research and analysis of the following criteria in the context of interior architecture: detail, patterning, colour, ornament and lighting.
