Course aim

An overview of the history, philosophy, purpose, function, and processes relevant to libraries, archives, galleries, museums and records management and their role in society.

Course content

Provides an overview of the theory, relationships and organisational requirements between different types of information sources, information users, technologies and society.  Insight into the relevant legal and ethical topics in the sector including, intellectual property, copyright, information literacy, access to information (FOI), confidentiality and privacy, intellectual freedom and censorship, archiving and preservation, and current professional issues.
