Course aim

To enable students to apply and/or generate psychological knowledge and skills in a workplace context.

Course content

Development of a placement learning plan that focuses on personal and professional develoment in a workplace setting.  Preparation for professional practice by developing an understanding of workplace contexts, values, ethics, professional relationships, accountability, competence. OHSW practices, workplace culture, structure, roles and functions.  Successfully complete a 150-hour placement.  Complete a learning journal throughout the placement recording progress and experience.  Complete a professional folio that documents progress and experience on placement along with critical self-reflection and evaluation of the learning outcomes.

The listed prerequisites plus two Level 2 psychology courses. NOTE 1: Onshore students are required to have undertaken Department for Communities and Social Inclusion Criminal History Screening and to have completed Child Safe Environments training. Some placements may also require students to hold a current drivers licence, National Police Check, Responding to Abuse and Neglect training, or recognised First Aid Certificate. NOTE 2: Offshore students please confirm requirements with your placement administrator.
