Course aim

To develop students' understandings of language policy, its analysis, development and impact in diverse contexts.

Course content

In this course, students will draw upon understandings of language, ideology and diverse orientations to critically analyse language and literacy policies in diverse contexts, their impact and consequences.  They will develop understandings of policy making processes and enactment, and develop a language policy to address a particular aspect of practice in a particular context.

Completion of any two second year courses from the Applied Linguistics or English Language Major / Sub-major within the Bachelor of Arts (MBAA), or English Language Major within the Bachelor Creative Industries (DBCI), or by approval from the Program Director.
