The Law for Managers

Course aim

This course provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge of legal issues that may arise in business dealings with a wide range of stakeholders including business partners, financiers, employees, contractors, customers, competitors, creditors, regulators and the public, and explores their impact on organisational management and leadership, business strategy, and business conduct. In doing so, the course challenges students to consider how the law can be leveraged to help drive innovation and business growth.  The course  also considers how the law approaches business organisations experiencing financial difficulty.

Students completing the course develop a body of knowledge that contributes to a comprehensive and integrated application of commercial law knowledge to recent developments in the field of senior organisational management and leadership in international business environments.

Course content

Topics covered in this course include business structures, employment, contract including leases, property including intellectual property, operational liabilities, negotiation, business finance, insolvency, and dealing with government.
