Course aim

The aim of this course is to enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and expertise necessary to undertake a community needs assessment and plan a substantial collaborative project with a community agency.

Course content

Philosophical and theoretical basis for collaborative and participatory community practice. Processes and strategies relevant to community need assessment. Liaison with community based agencies to undertake project scoping and community needs assessment. Project management skills. Proposal writing. Ethical issues and dilemmas in community work.
