Basic Systems Administration. Scripting and shell programming. Booting and Shutting down. Access Control. Process Control. The File system. User management. Storage. Periodic Processes. Backups. Log files. Software Installation and management. Drivers and the kernel.
Networking: DNS; Network file system; Sharing system files; electronic mail; Firewalls and VPNs; Web Hosting
Virtualisation. Printing. Data centre basics. Green IT. Performance Analysis. Serial Devices. Windows interoperability.
Management, policy, legal and ethical issues.
