Course aim

To develop students' skills to synthesise nursing knowledge and its application to one of the following nursing contexts: acute care, aged care, perioperative care, palliative care, mental health, paediatrics, primary/public health, obstetric nursing care.

Course content

Content is specific to one of the following contexts: acute care, aged care, perioperative care, palliative care, mental health, paediatrics, primary/public health, obstetric nursing care. Clinical interventions (preparing, assisting during and after care); clinical monitoring and management; communication and documentation; health education and promotion strategies; coordinating care; cultural competence; managing challenging behaviours; nurse as teacher for self and others; evidence-based practice; clinical reasoning; quality use of medicines; law and ethics; professional nursing behaviours (collaborative approaches to care, advocacy, scope of practice); models of self care; respect for privacy and dignity of clients/patients; teamwork and interdisciplinary teams; technology and health informatics.
