Course aim

To develop skills in the conduct of scientific research through participation in a research project commensurate with education and experience appropriate to employment in research positions or as a basis for further study towards higher research degrees.

Course content

Students will undertake a program of prescribed and independent reading as well as attending lectures, tutorials, workshops and seminars on topics to support their training in research (including but not limited to qualitative vs quantitative studies, ethics in research, health and safety, biostatistics, publishing, referencing, presentation skills, spreadsheets and databases, preparation of a thesis) and perform supervised research appropriate to the discipline in which they conduct their project.
