Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with an advanced understanding of Insolvency Law in the context of personal and corporate insolvency, relating to voluntary and compulsory bankruptcy or winding up, the effects of bankruptcy or winding up, assets available for distribution, the administration of the process, as well as alternatives to bankruptcy or winding up.

Course content

  • Voluntary and compulsory bankruptcy, the impact of bankruptcy and the termination of bankruptcy
  • Recovery of assets for creditors in the context of bankruptcy
  • Administration of a bankrupt estate
  • Non-bankruptcy arrangements for individuals
  • Voluntary and compulsory winding up, the effects of winding up and the termination of winding up
  • Assets available to the liquidator
  • Administration of winding up
  • Criminal offences and civil actions against company directors
  • Non-liquidation arrangements
