Course aim

To consolidate students' competency in professional practice reflecting the integration of social work values, knowledge and skills, and through an independent piece of research contribute to the social work body of knowledge.

Course content

Students will undertake a supervised placement opportunity to further develop their social work skills, practice and knowledge, and will apply advanced research skills to a research project of relevance to the professional mission of the host organisation.

Prerequisite(s)

All courses in the Master of Social Work except WELF 5103 Leadership in Social Work, or with the permission of the Program Director. Students are required to have undertaken a criminal history screening through the Department of Families and Communities and to have completed a 1 day Child Safe Environments Course. Some placements may require students to hold a current drivers licence and recognised First Aid Certificate.
