Course aim

To increase student’s ability to develop specifications for the design and implementation of appropriate networking and telecommunications infrastructure and services with consideration of business needs and industry trends.

Course content

Review of Data-link, Network and Transport Layer Terminology; Hierarchical and Logical Network Design; Network Testing and Documentation; VLSM IP addressing; Switching, VLANs and Trunking; Routing Protocols including RIP and OSPF; Network address translation (NAT), DHCP configuration; Security Strategies including access control lists (ACL); WAN Technologies; WiFi; IP Version 6.
