Course aim

To provide an understanding of the rationale for management of water quality and resources in urban and rural environments and the methods that can be used.

Course content

The nature of water systems; water quality; human perceptions and values.
Identifying and assessing the problems of water systems. Determining impacts on water systems; monitoring; modelling and forecasting.
Solutions to water system problems. Investigation methodologies, risk assessment and communication, solutions – planning and administrative aspects; Solutions – engineering, social and financial matters.
Review of current research and media articles on recent advances of water quality and resources management systems.
