Course aim

To examine the debates around gender and education in Australia; to locate gender movements within a global context; to examine what can be learned about the reproduction of gender in schooling practice.

Course content

The sex/gender system; gender and knowledge; sociological approaches to gender analysis; psychological theories of gender; gender and language; gender and schooling; the 'boys' issue; gender and teaching.
