English for Academic and International Communication

Course aim

To further develop students’ spoken and written communication skills in English language at an introductory level.

Course content

Students will develop an understanding of English as an academic language for undergraduate university study and its necessity for further study and employment in English-speaking countries. Students are encouraged to reflect on language learning processes while they focus on the further development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will develop critical and analytical reading and writing skills, focussing on the types of writing found in academic and professional contexts. Included in the course is a focus reflexive practice and strategies to expand the student’s knowledge of vocabulary, structure (grammar) and confidence in producing written texts in English.
