Course aim

To develop students' understanding on creating more sustainable interactions between water, energy, materials and food production, and their disposition towards change between human and nature.

Course content

Students will develop concepts of sustainable development and the ecological footprint and their application to personal, local and global community living. The students will explore the science of energy transfer, materials use and food production within a sustainable development framework, the concepts of sustainability and moral concerns and their effect on future life styles developed through discussion and personal/collective action. The students will also investigate worldviews including Gaian, reductionist and ecologica, national and international concerns with sustainability and educative approaches to address concerns.
