Rights and Racism

Course aim

To develop students' understanding of  theories and concepts of 'race' and racism and the development of racism in Australia.

Course content

Students will develop knowledge and understanding of the theories and concepts of rights and racism, through the studying of discourse on ‘race’, the intersections between rights, racism, nationalism and gender; the politics and policies of ‘Aboriginal affairs’, debates surrounding Aboriginal rights; and a history of racism in colonial and contemporary Australia.
