Human Service Field Placement B

Course aim

To enable students to integrate advanced skills and to consolidate his or her professional identify and presentation as competent human services workers.

Course content

Students will complete 280 hours in placement building on their professional identity through the development of learning objectives and by developing a working relationship with their supervisor. Students engage in reflective practice, identify their own professional pathways, and apply theory in practice, and manage their own workload. Exerting a positive influence in the workplace, student will establish credibility as a professional and manage culturally appropriate and collaborative relationships within their placement setting.

Prerequisite(s)

All first and second year courses (and third year for double degree students) in the Bachelor of Social Science (Human Services). Students are required to have undertaken a criminal history screening through the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion and to have completed a 1 day Child Safe Environments Course. Some placements may require students to hold a current drivers licence and recognised First Aid Certificate.
