To develop students' knowledge and skills for engaging in effective professional communication in Podiatry practice.

Course content

The legal and clinical responsibilities and ethical considerations associated with communication in health

The elements underpinning effective communication in a clinical and broader health context, such as: elements of effective communication, clinical interview skills, education, choice of language, communicating across the ages, letter and report-writing, record keeping

Communicating with Aboriginal and other cultural groups

Managing difficult interactions, including difficult patients, communication disorders including mental health and brain injury, and dealing with difficult topics
