Course aim
The course aims to provide an understanding of the nature and role of social, physical and environmental information in the field of built environments and develop skills in the use of information in urban and regional planning. It introduces the tasks and roles that contribute to the management of information in urban and regional planning. Students gain a basic understanding of information used in strategic planning and administrative practices, as well as hands-on experience in analysing information.
Course content
The syllabus includes geographical and statistical information used in state and local planning agencies in Australia and overseas. It draws on contemporary urban and regional issues on housing, ethnicity, employment, conservation and environment. It draws on materials presented in social data and analysis (ARCH2040).
