Course aim

To gain a broad understanding of the elements that combine to create a successful mathematics teaching / learning environment.

Course content

Stages in children’s mathematical development; the role of language, written and oral, in the development of mathematical knowledge, skills and understandings; current methodological approaches to the teaching of mathematics; aspects of the mathematics learning environment: team planning, teaching strategies and evaluation techniques.
