Rural Social Work

Course aim

To further develop social work skills and knowledge necessary to operate successfully as social workers in rural, remote and regional settings.

Course content

The students will develop advanced knowledge of rural and remote communities, critical understanding of issues and problems faced by the rural communities, disadvantage experienced by different groups in rural communities, socio-economic and political context of human services in rural Australia, theoretical frameworks and practice approaches relevant to human service delivery in the rural context. The students will apply their social work knowledge and skills in rural human service delivery through application of intervention strategies to the field of rural practice.
