Applied Psychology

Course aim

To develop students' understanding of key psychological concepts relevant to human services and health care practice.

Course content

Students will be introduced to basic concepts of psychology (including the biological bases of behaviour, learning theory, lifespan development, personality psychology, and health and wellbeing) with an emphasis on relevance in a human service and health care setting. They will be introduced to the interaction between psychological, social and physical health and illness.  Students will also consider the impact of illness and trauma on social and interpersonal relationships.
